Great Singapore Sale is soon up for grabs!

It's time again to indulge oneself as the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) unfolds from May 28 to July 25, 2010. For eight weeks, expect fabulous shopping with up to 70 percent discounts on fashion items, watches, jewelry, electronics, toys (and much more!) from one corner of the city-state to the other.

The official launch event of this year's GSS will see local and international teams racing from Orchard Road to Marina Bay and Southern Waterfront as they hunt for the best buys at the malls.

Come down for the flag off on May 29 at 2:30 p.m. in front of ION Orchard to follow the action and cheer your favorite team on - not to mention to grab all the best deals before everyone else!

Not sure about where to start shopping? Most shoppers would probably find themselves drawn to Orchard Road on their first leg of their spree. Flanked by malls on both sides of the road, here is the ultimate one-stop shop for luxury brands, new-concept shops, food, housewares, souvenirs and more.

At Marina Bay, there is everything between small local set-ups and designer boutiques to mega malls where you can feast on some good food while stocking up on various fashion, electronics and household items.

High-end shoppers can check out the specialty stores at Millenia Walk and Raffles Hotel Arcade for exquisitely tailored shirts, personalized perfumes and handmade chocolates. Alternatively, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands has a Louis Vuitton "island" store housed in a striking glass-and-steel pavilion that seems to float right on Marina Bay.

If street bazaar is more to your preference, however, Bugis Street has over 600 stalls offering an eclectic mix of trendy clothes, accessories, CDs, souvenirs, local snacks and local tidbits at (relatively) negotiable prices. For those not too impressed with the tropical heat, air-conditioned stalls are also available across the second floor of buildings and shops.

Those looking for a delicious ethnic mix of things should also head to Chinatown for its inimitable mix of shops selling everything from exquisite silk Chinese dresses to herbal preparations by the trusty sinsei.

A little slice of India is exactly what you'll get at Little India, where jasmine flowers scent the air and stalls selling floral garlands line the streets. Find saris, Bollywood posters, Bhangra music, trinkets and colorful jewelry in this famous ethnic precinct. Don't forget to visit Mustafa for some heavyweight shopping!

Up for some Arabian Night flair? Kampong Glam is host to the age-old trades sustaining Singapore's early Arab immigrants with its large share of carpets, textiles, crafts and rattan baskets.

Last but not least, pay a visit to other shopping precincts at the Southern Waterfront, home to VivoCity and the newly opened Resort World Sentosa. Just be wise enough not to shop at the expense of knocking yourself out!
